Daily Stock Picks, by the indicators.

An automated technical-analysis desk. Every trading morning it scans the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100, reads seven indicators across a year of daily prices, and publishes three to five clear calls, each one BUY, HOLD or SELL with a short reason.

● Weekdays 9:00 AM ET 517 stocks scanned 3–5 picks a day Days-to-years horizon

The pipeline

From raw prices to a call before the bell

Two n8n workflows do the work. One keeps a rolling year of prices up to date; the other turns it into picks at 9:00 AM Eastern, then posts them here and to Slack.

Sync prices

Yesterday’s bars for every stock arrive from Massive in one call. Splits trigger a clean re-fetch.

Compute

Seven indicators on ~250 trading days per stock, plus every signal event from the last 7 sessions.

The ~36 strongest setups, both directions. Earnings in the next 5 days and recent repeats drop out.

Claude picks

A model reads the numbers, requires three indicators to agree, and writes a one-to-three sentence reason.

Post & notify

A dated post lands on this site and a summary goes to Slack. Every pick is logged.

The toolkit

Seven indicators, standard settings

The same studies a technical trader keeps on the chart, computed the same way, so every call can be checked against a platform like thinkorswim.

SMA

50 / 200

Long-term trend and the golden or death cross.

EMA

20 / 50

Faster trend shifts that lead the SMAs.

RSI

14 · 30 / 70

Momentum and overbought or oversold zones.

MACD

12 / 26 / 9

Signal-line and zero-line crosses.

Bollinger Bands

20 · 2σ

Volatility squeezes and band breakouts.

On-Balance Volume

cumulative

Whether volume confirms the price move.

Stochastic

14 / 3 / 3 · 20 / 80

Turns out of overbought and oversold.

7-day lookback

Signal events

last 7 sessions

What changed this week, weighted against the one-year trend.

The output

Every call is one of three

No price targets, no hedging language. Each pick carries a single label and a short, number-backed reason.

▲ BUY

A fresh bullish setup confirmed by several independent indicators, with the long-term trend behind it.

● HOLD

An uptrend that is intact but stretched or consolidating. Keep the position; don’t chase a new one.

▼ SELL

A breakdown or clear deterioration, ideally confirmed by volume. Exit or stay away.

Guardrails

What keeps the picks honest

  • Confluence requiredAt least three of the seven indicators have to agree before a stock gets a call.
  • Earnings screenAnything reporting in the next five trading days is left out.
  • No repeatsThe same call on the same stock won’t reappear within ten days unless the signal flips.
  • Market calendarHolidays are skipped, and stale data raises a warning instead of a pick.

The morning message

↗Stock Picks9:01 AM

📊 Daily Stock Picks · Tue, Sep 29

● BUY · XYZ · High conviction
MACD crossed above its signal 3 days ago, RSI 58 rising from 41, and price reclaimed the 50-day average on above-average volume.

● HOLD · ABC · Medium conviction
Trend intact 12% above the 200-day, but RSI 74 and price riding the upper band argue against adding here.

● SELL · LMN · Medium conviction
Closed below the 50-day with OBV at a 20-day low; MACD turned negative.
